I was like that ...
I was like that before (yrs. ago), now I can hear the difference from just a slight movement. I could definitely tell the difference.

Each piece of clarity is important in sound.

for people who want ...
for people who want to place this mic upside down while standing, take out the holder piece of the shockmount and flip it upside down(it comes out by u unstringing it) then simply string it back

Well, maybe great frequence capabilities.
Wich mic are you using?

the reason you ...
the reason you probably have more low end (or resonance) to the mic is because you are talking CLOSER to the mic...a property of cardiod mics. the best thing to do would be to flip the mic around and point the side down toward your chest (pull the top of the mic toward you). the problem then is that it just doesn't look as cool then. the cardiod pattern of a side addressed mic does not point downward as you explained. it points out of the side of the mic. but don't believe me...look it up.
