I was like that … I was like that before (yrs. ago), now I can hear the difference from just a slight movement. I could definitely tell the difference.
Dude I use a 10 … Dude I use a 10 dollar mic for now too Rap it gets the Job done if your a heavy breather you need a condensed mic if your not theres way too defeat the sound quality. one you already mentioned
for people who want … for people who want to place this mic upside down while standing, take out the holder piece of the shockmount and flip it upside down(it comes out by u unstringing it) then simply string it back
the reason you … the reason you probably have more low end (or resonance) to the mic is because you are talking CLOSER to the mic…a property of cardiod mics. the best thing to do would be to flip the mic around and point the side down toward your chest (pull the top of the mic toward you). the problem then is that it just doesn’t look as cool then. the cardiod pattern of a side addressed mic does not point downward as you explained. it points out of the side of the mic. but don’t believe me…look it up.
I have this … I have this microphone and I don’t hang it upside down, I have it on a gooseneck and up straight with a shockmount and a popfilter, speaking off of the mic is absolutely you need to speak directly into the cardoid pickup as it is omni direction too it will only pick up sound mainly from one side so speaking above or below the mic will sound shit. Spaking directly into the pickup area enchances and gives your voice a much deeper sound and clearer sound. I know, I do weekly podcasts.
Hmm, do these tips … Hmm, do these tips apply for the traditional shape condensor? I use a shure condensor for voice over, but its the traidional handle and ball shaped grille….
dude is placing the … dude is placing the mic correctly but the reason for him doing it is completely off. This is a side addressed mic so when he positions it he is speaking directly into the element. The mic isn’t pointing at his chest it is pointing at his mouth.
